BEFORE YOUR FIRST LESSON
Get ready for Programming Lab.
Coding environment & support
Projects are primarily lightweight, browser-based learning projects using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Depending on the activity, files may run locally in your browser or through an approved online coding environment. Exact setup is confirmed in the course instructions.
Contact our support team or ask a parent or guardian if you need help preparing your device, accounts or learning materials. Recorded learners have educator email support for up to 10 days after purchase. Live learners can ask questions in the approved learning environment and use support email throughout the program.
Accessible tools
Have the required ChatGPT and approved coding-tool accounts set up before starting, following platform age and account requirements. Programming Lab uses free or entry-level access wherever practical.
Paid plans may offer additional features, usage or credits. Optional upgrades are the learner’s or parent’s choice unless paid access is clearly required. Any required paid software will be identified before enrolment. A parent or guardian should manage purchases for minors.
Your device checklist
• Laptop or desktop — recommended
• Stable internet connection
• Current web browser
• Required course accounts ready
• Basic browser and typing skills
• Mouse — recommended, not essential
Tablets and mobile devices can support lesson viewing and some activities. Creating, testing and editing code is generally easier on a computer.
EDUCATORS & SUPPORT
Human guidance for your coding journey.
School delivery
Schools can discuss a customised learning experience through our School Programs pathway. Named facilitators, relevant expertise, staff responsibilities and support are confirmed in the individual proposal.
Live educator
The named live educator and relevant verified role or professional experience will be confirmed with the cohort and timetable before enrolment. Live sessions provide real-time questions, discussion and guidance through the approved learning environment.
Recorded-course educator
Learn through guided recorded lessons, with educator email support for up to 10 days after purchase. The named educator and verified role or relevant professional experience are being confirmed. Contact us to learn more about the teaching approach.
The five-lesson journey
Idea. Build. Test. Improve.
AI provides a starting point. You decide what to build, check how it behaves, solve problems and make purposeful changes. Learn coding concepts through projects connected to your own interests.
Idea → Build → Test → Problem-Solve → Improve
-
Discover AI-assisted coding
Explore variables, events, conditions, loops, objects, sprites and coordinates. Build an obstacle-style Canvas game with movement, scoring and collisions. -
Give a game clear instructions
Define project type, character, player action, goal, reward and difficulty. Build and test a Gem Catcher game. -
Build an everyday application
Plan purpose, user input, features and experience. Create a Daily Planner with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. -
Test, debug and refine
Develop a personal game or useful app. Test it, identify problems, make at least five refinements and compare the results. -
Program safely and originally
Check privacy, appropriate content and originality. Combine game and application ideas in a final project, acknowledge AI support and test the code.

Human judgement, working prototypes
Generated code needs your judgement.
Treat AI-generated code as a prototype, not automatically as a finished, correct or secure product. Run your projects, test features, investigate errors and unexpected behaviour, and make deliberate improvements. Live educators provide guidance; recorded learners can use educator email support during the applicable period.
External links, APIs and extra services are not assumed to be part of every project. Where required, their purpose and requirements will be explained before use. Keep unnecessary personal or sensitive information out of code, prompts and third-party services.
Projects are for learning first. Public publication is not automatic. NextRising AI will request appropriate permission before showcasing identifiable student work and remove unnecessary personal information. School showcases follow school and permission arrangements. Learners can keep and develop project files where the technology allows, subject to software, platform and content licences. Access to student work may be needed for support, feedback or agreed school-program services.
Before you begin
Practical questions, clear answers.
For learners who have an idea and want to see it work.
Programming Lab is suitable for different levels of coding experience. Learners might already enjoy programming and want to explore AI-supported development, or they may be creating their first game or application. The course introduces the process step by step, with room to experiment, solve problems and build projects connected to their own interests.
Generally recommended for ages 12+, particularly secondary-age learners. Suitable younger learners may participate with parent or guardian support where readiness and platform requirements allow.
Curiosity and ideas are the best place to start.
Programming concepts are introduced progressively through real projects. Students learn what variables, events, conditions, loops, objects, sprites and coordinates do while building and testing their work. Existing coding experience can help learners go further; advanced programming knowledge is not required.
Learners should be able to use a browser and type. Contact us if you need help preparing your device or accounts.
AI gives students a starting point — the learning happens in what they do next.
Students plan what they want to build, test AI-generated code, identify problems, ask why something is not working, make targeted changes and compare versions. The goal is stronger thinking, testing and problem-solving.
Generated code is treated as a prototype, not automatically as a finished, correct or secure product. Students test features, examine unexpected behaviour and make deliberate improvements. Live educators provide guidance, while recorded-course learners can use educator email support during the applicable support period.
Projects use HTML, CSS and JavaScript, including HTML Canvas for interactive games. Students learn real coding foundations while using ChatGPT and approved AI coding tools as programming partners.
Projects are primarily lightweight, browser-based learning projects. Depending on the activity, files may run locally in the learner’s browser or through an approved online coding environment. The exact setup is confirmed in the course instructions.
The course includes guided games, a useful everyday application, an individual project and an innovative final project. Students also make refinements to improve how their work functions and feels.
These are learning projects and working prototypes. They are not automatically production-ready applications. Planning, testing, explaining and improving the work are part of the outcome.
Projects are created for learning first. Students may have opportunities to save, share or showcase their work where appropriate. Public publication is not automatic.
Where NextRising AI would like to showcase identifiable student work publicly, appropriate permission will be requested first and unnecessary personal information will be removed. School-program showcases or promotional use also follow the relevant school and permission arrangements.
External links, APIs or additional services are not assumed to be part of every project. Any required service and its purpose will be explained before use. Do not place unnecessary personal or sensitive information into code, prompts or third-party services.
A laptop or desktop is recommended because students will create, test and edit games and applications. Tablets and mobile devices can support lesson viewing and some activities, although coding tasks are easier on a computer.
You need stable internet, a current browser, required course accounts set up before starting, and basic browser and typing skills. A mouse is recommended but not essential. Exact coding-environment instructions and platform age and account requirements are confirmed before the relevant activities.
Programming Lab uses free or entry-level access wherever practical. Optional paid plans may offer additional features, usage or credits. Upgrades are a learner’s or parent’s choice unless paid access is clearly required; any required paid software is identified before enrolment. Contact NextRising AI support or ask a parent or guardian for setup help.
Students should be able to keep and continue developing their project files wherever the course technology allows. Reuse and sharing are subject to applicable software, platform and content-licensing requirements.
NextRising AI may access student work where required for learning support, feedback or agreed school-program services. Identifiable student work will not be used publicly for promotion without appropriate permission. School-specific proposals can define any different sharing arrangements.
The recorded digital course is online and on demand, with five lessons of approximately one hour each and educator email support for up to 10 days after purchase.
Live delivery comprises five one-hour sessions when a cohort, educator and timetable are available. Small groups support real-time questions, educator guidance, discussion and peer interaction, with email support during the live program.
Check availability for the confirmed date, local time or timezone, delivery mode, educator and available places. Final live booking details will be provided before enrolment.
Live booking information also identifies the delivery platform. School-based or in-person experiences can be discussed through School Programs.
